Julie’s artwork is a reflection of who she is and the way she thinks. She works in a spontaneous manner to build compositions on a surface/canvas by texturing, layering and painting.
Her paintings are created by concentrating on the elements of art (line, space, texture, value, shape and color) as well as the principles of design (proportion, variety, repetition, balance and emphasis). Compositions in art are similar to creating a composition in English: It’s the way the components or parts of a work of art are arranged by the artist.
She prefers the challenge of asymmetrical balance in a non-objective and abstract way.
